Short answer
An eScript is a prescription sent to your phone as a text or email with a QR code (the token). Show it or forward it to any pharmacy in Australia and they fill it like a paper script. Repeats come as a new token, or go on your active script list if you have one.

What an eScript is
An eScript is an electronic prescription. Instead of a paper script, your doctor sends you a link by text or email. The link opens a QR code called a token.
The token is the script. Anyone who has it can have it filled, so treat it like a paper script and only share it with your pharmacy.
How to fill one
- Show the QR code on your phone at the counter
- Or forward the text or email to the pharmacy before you go
- Or ask the pharmacy to look it up on your active script list
Any community pharmacy in Australia can fill it. You don't have to use the same pharmacy every time.
Repeats
When the pharmacy fills an eScript that has repeats, you get a new token for the next repeat, or the repeat goes on your active script list if you have one. Keep the token, or ask the pharmacy to hold it for you.
Active script list
An active script list keeps all your current eScripts in one place, so you don't need to keep track of tokens. Ask your pharmacy to set one up. Only the pharmacists and prescribers you agree to can see it.
If you lose a token
Ask the pharmacy whether your script is on your active script list. If not, contact your doctor's clinic: they can resend the token.
